I'd popped in for a pint and bumped in to a couple of friends who had ordered the fillet of turbot. It was the look of shear pleasure on their faces as their food was served that tortured me. My misery got worse as soon as they took their first mouthfull. It looked perfect, it obviously tasted wonderful, and......the smell. I just couldn't stand to watch them enjoying it so much. I had to down my pint and leave.

I went to our Tennis Club's Christmas do at The Chequers. There were twelve of us. The food was seriously good. We all agreed that we had never had a meal where absolutely everyone cleared their plate. Even my wife who usually eats like a sparrow. W'eve already booked for this year.
